Still Otw Cover Art: Creative Process. This cover art project explores motion, depth, and visual effects, using digital manipulation to transform a still photograph into a dynamic and immersive composition. The main objective was to create the illusion of movement within a static image, experimenting with how lighting, glows, and layered effects could change the way the photograph is perceived.
The project began with a photograph that served as the foundation for the composition. Rather than relying solely on the original image, I used post-production techniques to develop a completely different visual atmosphere around the subject. Through a combination of digital editing, lighting treatments, glows, and visual effects, the image was given greater depth and a stronger sense of movement.
A major focus throughout the design process was the use of light and glow. These effects were introduced to create separation between different areas of the composition while drawing attention toward the subject. The contrast between brighter highlights and darker areas also helped establish a more dramatic and cinematic visual quality. The darker treatment was intentional, allowing the added lighting effects to stand out and contribute to the overall sense of depth.
The project also involved experimenting with the relationship between sharpness, blur, light, and spatial layering. By combining these elements, I was able to create the impression that parts of the image were moving through the frame. The effects were not intended simply as decorative additions; they were used to support the central concept and make the viewer perceive movement within an otherwise still photograph.
Another important aspect of the project was maintaining a balance between the original photograph and the digital manipulation. While the effects significantly change the atmosphere of the image, the subject remains the focal point of the composition. This helped ensure that the visual remained effective as music cover art rather than becoming overwhelmed by the effects themselves.
The final artwork demonstrates how post-production can transform the visual language of a photograph. Through experimentation with lighting, glows, effects, layering, and composition, the original image was developed into a more dimensional and expressive piece of cover art.
